MNN'S CALL FOR ALTERNATIVE ELECTION PROGRAMS--SEND US SEGMENTS BY OCT. 24TH

In an effort to amplify the grassroots/independent voices on this year's elections we are doing a call out to organizations to send us video segments to be included in our special Election block that will air the week of November 3rd.
Send us your videotapes/segments (under 10mins preferred, on Mini DV tape)--we will do our best to include them in our special block.
*Segments sought addressing such themes as: 1) Community-based perspectives on social/economic justice issues (such as housing, labor, immigrant rights, education, etc) that are being left out of the election discourse and mainstream media. 2) Community driven efforts to hold elected officials accountable 3) Amplify the voices of disenfranchised communities whose issues are not addressed in the election debate 4) Alternative perspectives to the two party system.
Please send your tapes by Oct. 24th and include: 1) organizational contact info and description of the vieo piece

Please join the Hip-Hop Association for an evening of Hip-Hop documentaries from South America. These films highlight the power and perseverance of Latino youth in the struggle. It is guaranteed to inspire and educate viewers on a movement that is expanding the game of Hip-Hop culture. Frekuensia Kolombiana When traditional music is the pulse of a culture, hip hop can only expand from its native roots. Frekuensia Kolombiana explores traditional music and how it relates to hip hop. Through a series of interviews we examine the music that has kept Colombia alive. We are taken on a journey through the cities of Colombia where the film also looks at poverty and international relations.

ABOUT H2O H2O [Hip-Hop Odyssey] is the media initiative of the Hip-Hop Association. Our media activities includes the H2O [Hip-Hop Odyssey] International Film Festival, the Freshest Youth Program, the Odyssey Awards, Defuse News, and H2ONewsreel. Our mission is to support the use of Hip-Hop culture and media as a tool for social awareness and youth empowerment. Through the development of online technology, distribution outlets, and media preservation, the Hip-Hop Association is able to provide accessible alternative media and educational tools for teaching, organizing, and civic engagement.
